DNA Conference, Bad Blankenburg, Germany!

Hello again friends and family! I hope you are all doing well.

I have the amazing privilege of attending this DNA conference in Germany from May 8th to 20th. The founders of Ywam are speaking there, and we are driving there as a base, as I have mentioned before. This is a really unique opportunity to hear from these incredible people and to travel together to Bad Blankenburg.

I have also been asked to help plan out morning tea and snacks for 300-400 people there every morning during the conference with one of my leaders. Growing and learning in multiple ways while I am there. :)

I am still trusting for a little over $500 CAD to cover the travelling expenses, accommodation, and the conference itself. I would be so happy if you feel led to give towards this opportunity. Feel free to email me, stephaniebweiss@gmail.com, if you have any questions, or if you would like to give. You can also use the convenient "Donate" option to the right of this blog page.

"There is a simple truth about DNA: it is least altered the closest to its source of origin. DNA Infusion in Bad Blankenburg, Germany will be led by one of “the originals,” Darlene Cunningham, the co-founder of Youth With A Mission. And the other “original,” YWAM Founder Loren Cunningham, will be the other primary speaker! This is a wonderful blessing, as Loren is not able to be at all of the DNA events Darlene leads. David Hamilton, University of the Nation’s Vice President for Strategic Innovation, will be the third primary speaker. He also has an outstanding history of YWAM leadership, pioneering and innovation that spans more than three decades. David, Darlene and Loren are a wonderful trio of leadership wisdom."

I really appreciate the financial support as I really feel I am here as God has led me. It is growing me a lot to trust in His provision through the generosity of others. I pray that He will bless you one hundred fold from your generosity towards supporting me. It means so much.

Thank you!

a new quarter begins!

Hi everyone!
I Wanted to share some photos of Biarritz I took a couple weeks ago! I love this place so much.

The music students have all arrived and have already started class and are currently learning about the nature and character of God taught by our base leader, Dan Appa. I have been enjoying leading hospitality! Some days I am needed to pick guests up at the airport, other days I am baking for the whole base, or organizing different events. It's a job that keeps me on my toes and challenges me to stay on top of things. I also get to be creative - which I love.

Next month our whole base will drive to Germany to attend a Ywam conference! Loren Cunningham, the founder of Youth With a Mission, as well as other well known speakers will be there. The January DTS is meeting us there, the Music DTS will come along, and all the staff as well! It will be an amazing time together and a rare opportunity to hear from Loren Cunningham and other well known speakers in the Ywam world. Also I am pretty sure that we are camping while we are there- so it is going to be quite the adventure. :)

Another cool thing is that I have started an online Relational Fundraising course with Ywam E-Learning. It is designed for new missionaries who are starting to raise support and to give them the skills and the knowledge on how to do it well. I'm thankful for this resource- I haven't finished it yet- but I am working on it in my spare time.

Thanks for praying for me!

another march update!?

Hi everyone!

It's been a lovely week as we have been preparing for the music DTS that starts on Monday! It's been confirmed that I am leading hospitality and have a number of new responsibilities for the quarter that I am excited about! Yesterday here it was a beautiful sunny 23 degrees, but this morning it has been raining and quite stormy- the ever changing spring weather here in Biarritz!

I went for a walk one rainy day last week and took this photo!

This is one of the roads near our base~ I love the architecture and the different vegetation here.

Some morning calligraphy!

This is the room that the guest speakers each week will stay in. Yesterday I got to buy different snacks, tea and coffee, and set up their room!

The theme of the music DTS is 'start a fire.' Adam asked me to paint his design and I've been helping set up the classroom with the music DTS staff- it's been fun!

Leading hospitality, I am in charge of staff birthdays, buying a gift, making a cake, and making sure their day is special! This was from one of the student's birthday's from the January school!

Easter was a lovely sunny day here. We had a nice lunch all together and then hunted for some chocolate hidden around the base.

On Thursday night last week I stayed overnight at the hospital. I was in bed for a few days unfortunately due to some ovarian cyst pain. It wasn't the first time this has happened, so I sort of knew what was going on and what was causing the pain. I had a CAT scan and an ultrasound at the hospital and thankfully they said I did not need surgery, and I got prescriptions for some pain medication. After about 3 days- around Sunday, I could get back to regular life. They suggested to get another ultrasound in about a month to monitor everything and make sure it is not getting worse. Prayers appreciated for that and that the pain would not come back!

Thanks again for praying and for partnering with me and Ywam's vision, to know God and to make Him known. We are so excited for this new quarter and to meet all the new students- the first arrives here today. I will continue to keep you updated on things here!

Lots of love,
Steph

march update//

Hi everyone!

Can't believe we are well into March already! The January school has left for outreach, the Surf and Snow school is now back, shortly to be going home, and in a couple weeks the music school will start! Lots of things happening around here.

For the new quarter I am now heading up hospitality for the base. What that looks like is anything from making sure visitors have welcome cards and beds, to doing laundry, to baking desserts every week, to planning and decorating special events, etc. As the base is expanding with more staff, currently we are spread out in 4 different places- the girls' apartment, the boys' apartment, the hostel (a local surf hostel we rent in the off-season), and the base. I am currently staying at the base, where the majority of events/classes/eating/intercession/worship-all happens. It only takes about 15 minutes to walk down to the beach. The weather hasn't been nice enough to play volleyball on the beach courts yet, but we are planning to do that soon one of these warmer weekends! We did have a bonfire on the beach one night which was awesome!

I am still needing to raise about $600- and am praying for God's provision. I would love for you to pray and ask Him about partnering with me. It doesn't have to be a lot- even a monthly commitment of $20 would be a huge blessing as I serve here.

Thank you for supporting me- I promise some photos next post of this beautiful place.

xo, Steph

february update//

Hi friends & family!

I feel so blessed to be here in Biarritz and things have been working together really well. The transition back into Ywam and now to base staff has been very smooth and it's crazy how quickly this place can feel like home again.

The January DTS students are leaving for outreach in 2 weeks and it has been awesome to get to know them and serve them in different ways. I can't remember what I said in the last blog post but I have been on the kitchen and hospitality teams. What that looks like throughout the week is usually driving, food shopping, cooking, baking, planning different base events, making welcome cards, as well as staff meetings, base intercession and worship, evangelism, and lots of fun time together as a community.

{ These pictures are some of the January DTS girls, and another night at sunset! }

So far God has been stretching me in continuing to trust him. To remember that he is a faithful God who will complete the work he started in me. To trust that he will use me how he has made me. How he knows me deeper than I know myself, and knows my desires and dreams- and who better to live my life for and follow no matter what that is going to look like.

I've been feeling very blessed these last few weeks - Biarritz is a beautiful city to call home for this season. The staff I serve alongside with are also amazing people and I am so blessed to do life with them. Thank you for praying, for being a part of this! If you feel led to support me financially, it is greatly needed as I do have to raise support and pay my staff fees every month- which comes to about $545 CAD. There is a convenient little "Donate" button that should be on the right side of this blog that will go straight to my Paypal account. If you have any questions or want to know more about anything, feel free to email me! {stephaniebweiss@gmail.com} I will update every once and a while specifically about finances and how much I am still in need of. Thank you so much for faithfully reading this blog and supporting me!

Rise and Shine

Hello everyone!

Day 5 here being back in Biarritz, and I couldn't be more thankful. It feels great to be back  re-united with friends and to be a part of this awesome community once again. I have a better idea now of how I am going to be serving as well, which is great. Leah and I were talking as well about me going to Lesvos to help with the refugee crisis with a team, and that looks like it might be closer to May-June. Until then I am going to be helping in practical base ministries, with the kitchen and hospitality teams. I am living on the base with some of the new students for the January DTS, in a room with 2 other staff girls! There is also a separate girls & guys apartment, and a rented place for more DTS students. I think around 4-5 weeks the students will leave for outreach, and the music DTS students will start coming for their school in April! So always lots happening at the base but it really does feel so right for me to be here, to take this time to seek God and his direction.

Isaiah 30:21 was written on my welcome card, and it reads:

"Your own ears will hear him.
Right behind you a voice will say,
“This is the way you should go,”
whether to the right or to the left."

So very timely as I take this time to seek his face and serve here even as my future is a bit unknown. Thank you for your prayers as they are greatly appreciated. I also found out that as a base we will all be driving to Germany for a Ywam conference in May- I am so stoked for that! All in all, I am very excited for this season on staff with Ywam Biarritz and to see where God leads me.  Pictures coming soon! :)

1 more week!

Hey everybody!

After a 2+ week ordeal, my visa has finally been approved, and my flight is officially booked!! Thank you, Jesus! I will be leaving from Vancouver on February 2nd! I am relieved and happy that I only have one more week to wait. (My suitcase is half packed already!)

Thanks for all your prayers as I take this step and go back to France on volunteer staff. I will continue to update here!
